Abstract
What are the common "perspectives, ways of thinking, and behavioral habits" shared by companies that have adapted to environmental changes and continued to grow?
While many Japanese companies have seen sales decline amidst excessive competition amidst turbulent times such as the IT bubble, the Lehman Shock, population decline due to a declining birthrate and aging population, prolonged deflation, and the rise of emerging countries, there are also "companies that continue to achieve high growth."
This book analyzes the performance of 184 representative Japanese companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange that make up the Nikkei Stock Average from 2000 to 2023, for which data is available. Drawing on the author's consulting experience, which has seen numerous companies achieve high growth, the book attempts to identify and systematize the commonalities of sustainable high-growth companies.
It explains "five core elements" that can help companies transform into high-growth companies.
1. What's needed is not a sense of crisis, but insanity.
2. Make change the goal.
3. Speed creates change.
4. Gives you the energy to defy the easy way.
5. Change your mind every day and quit boldly.
In addition, we interviewed 13 transformational CxOs from companies such as the Sony Group and Fast Retailing. We also reveal the common actions they took.
